Introduction

Dear Rasikas,

It is a great feeling for all of us when Raga Surabhi reached the ninth year milestone this week! We welcome you to this edition of special quiz launched to celebrate this occasion :)

So what is the new dimension that we have for you this time? Well, it is a real fun quiz with only pictures as questions! Sounds interesting right??

A note to participants from Raga Surabhi:

We are happy to publish the results of this Special Quiz. This quiz, surprisingly has received only few responses compared to our previous special quizzes.

But, we would like to make a special mention of all the rasikas who have participated in this quiz. All the participants have devoted a lot of time and have done extremely well! In fact, some of their answers have also given us new insights and enabled us to learn a few things about the Carnatic legends! Thank you for sharing your insights!

Before we go to the results, we would like to share a nice email that we received from one of the participants, Ms. Anuradha. She has so nicely captured the spirit of this quiz :)

My wishes for the successful completion of 9 years and my prayer to almighty to go ahead a long way. My humble respect to you for the great service you are doing. This special quiz is awesome, once again my “siram thazhtha namaskarangal” for Ragasurabhi team for this great idea. This quiz gave an opportunity for me to know about our legends and the great music journey of every one. Really I was amazed and I had a wonderful time and it was interesting to read a lot. Thanks you so much!

Rules of the game

You have two sets of pictures related to Carnatic music given below, Question set and Answer set.

Question set contains 12 pictures and Answer set contains 24 pictures.

For every picture in the Question set, there are one or more related pictures (answers) in the Answer set.
For e.g., Saint Thyagaraja in Question set can be linked to Lord Rama in Answer set, reason being Lord Rama was Saint Thyagaraja's favourite deity and he has composed numerous songs on Rama.

Rasikas have to thus come up with as many connections as possible to the Pictures in Question set to that in Answer set.

Important -

Please note that there might be another image in Answer set which could also be linked to Saint Thyagaraja. And that is for you to figure out ;)

The same image in Answer set could have a connection to different images in Question set.

For eg., The image of Lord Rama (already connected to Thyagaraja) could also be connected to Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, reason being, he set to tune the famous 'Bhavayami Raghuraman', the Ramayana musical.

Submission Guidelines

Rasikas must identify each image before they start making connections and give their answers.
Here is the format in which you have to send the answers -

<Question No.>:<(Question Image Description)>:<Answer No.>:<(Answer Image Description)>:<Reason>

For eg -

(Q13): Saint Thyagaraja:     (A10): Lord Rama:     Favourite Deity on whom he composed numerous songs
    - Any other image connected to Saint Thyagaraja in Answer set should be mentioned here along with the reason.

(Q11): Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer:     (A10): Lord Rama:     Set to tune 'Bhavayami Raghuramam'
    - Any other image connected to Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer in Answer set should be mentioned here along with the reason.
