Dear Rasikas,
We are happy to be back with our weekly update. This week we present the comparison of ragas 'Kalyani, Vachaspati and Lathangi', under the 'Twin Raga' segment. Many of our rasikas have found it difficult to identify the ragas Vachaspati and Lathangi in our recent quizzes and hence we felt the urgent need to address these ragas. Hope you will find it useful.
This week's quiz consists of five questions - two regular ones and three questions for identifying the ragas discussed in the comparison episode. Though our rasikas enthusiastically participate in the weekly quiz, we do not want to tax them by increasing the number of questions, hence the regular questions have been reduced to two.
One of our rasikas requested for a Purandara Dasa song in our full song segment. We present to you one of the most popular Purandara Dasa's composition 'Venkatachala nilayam' in the raga Sindu Bhairavi set to Adhi tala. The song is an evergreen melody and is known to evoke instant bhakti in the hearts of listeners. Sit back, listen and enjoy!
