Hope you all had a great start to 2012! We have a new raga this week - Natabhairavi - 20th Melakartha raga, the shuddha madhyama equivalent of the more popular Shanmughapriya. Natabhairavi has given rise to several popular janya ragas like, to name a few, bhairavi, anandhabhairavi, abheri, that are more popular than the parent. That is also a reason for taking up this raga only now.
On the laya segment, Shri. Suriyanarayanan starts his demonstrations of various talas with chathusra nadai, adi talam.
