Papanasam Sivan is, undoubtedly, one of the greatest tamil composers of our times. All his songs are known to have an emotive appeal with very simple words. He is also known to have employed lot of swaraaksharas in his compositions - the swaram and the lyric are one and the same. To cite some examples, in the composition, "ka va va" , the letter 'ka' starts at the swara 'ga' (, in "parathpara parameswara" all the 'pa' occur at the swaram 'pa'.
